Russia & Ukraine

20 days, more like 20 years. Better find some work on an oil rig somewhere out in Siberia…

Things have to be pretty bad for this many russian journalist hacks to suddenly bail out. Most of them have learned how to disseminate the Russian puke over the years and have someone come to terms with it for a paycheck or out of fear or something. I guess some of this is too big a turd to swallow. More likely things have reached a point where it is more risky to their careers and lives to be on Putin's side, and if so, well, good.

I know that everyone knows about the russian tv anchor who protested on air, but if you do a thirty second scan down through this article, there is a lot more going on.

The old iron-curtain era cars with two-cycle motors like the Trabant 601 don't really require modern electronics.... the Russains can go back to manufacturing these.

I remember back when the Berlin wall fell and the east germans were able to putt-putt by the thousands over into west germany and an article pointed out how the air quality immediately went downhill.

I don’t like Blinken setting terms like this in public and I would much rather see the Ukrainians at the forefront here and given some wiggle room. Blinken should be threatening to ratchet up sanctions and defensive weapons supplies if Russia continues with its invasion and that’s it. The Ukrainians should make the ask on behalf of Russia if need be as part of peace settlement.
