Russia & Ukraine

They should rename it to “freedom fries with gravy”.

and then sell it in the U.S. South.

Must be some classy french restaurant - or not- when your "signature dish" is poutine, which is basically a comfort food so to speak. That does not make it a bad thing but it is definitely low end.

Cajun Poutine is a thing already, a spicy version of the Quebecois.

I wonder - do these guys ever give even one thought to what they write?

It changes the calculus of how Venezuela will be examined. Or let us just say there will be re-looks.

We were not dealing with VZ because of the brutal dictator and his humanitarian abuses but are still dealing with Putin. What's wrong with that picture.

Just sayin, it is an opportune time for some arrangement whereby VZ oil is developed/begins to flow, whatever. An arrangement wherein a per cent of revenue goes to an internationally supervised commission that confirms that the dollars are going to food, medical care, human type things. I don't know. Not going to work out the details here. Just making the point that some things need a re-look.

Of course Maduro is still in love with Putin and Rosneft the big russian oil outfit is working with them-which was broke even before this latest round, I mean their VZ operation . I know all that. But I also know that it is a new world since last week. Lots of state players out there looking for new buddies. The US included. I can plug my nose for Maduro as easily as for Putin and I am not worried about Venezuela's military.

Look at you, every once in a while even the sun will shine on a dogs ass…

2021 was a banner year for energy production in New Mexico, the New Mexico Oil and Gas Association (NMOGA) said in a Dec. 29 email.

“Revenue grew $500 million on the strength of production, returning drilling activity and a rebound in market prices,” the organization said.

The state’s oil and natural gas industry supported 134,000 jobs in New Mexico in 2021, NMOGA said.

Oil and natural gas production generated $5.3 billion in state and local tax revenue during the year, which is the highest in New Mexico history, NMOGA said.

New Mexico ended 2020 with 65 active rigs and reached 93 rigs in December 2021, NMOGA said.

New Mexico became the second largest oil producer in the country in 2021, producing more than one million barrels of oil a day. The Permian Basin in New Mexico and Texas currently accounts for nearly one third of national production.

NMOGA is a coalition of more than 1,000 oil and natural gas companies, individuals and stakeholders in New Mexico. The state’s oil and natural gas activity is concentrated in two parts of the state: the Permian Basin covers about 86,000 square miles and underlies an area that is about 250 miles wide and 300 miles long in southeast New Mexico and west Texas. The San Juan Basin covers about 7,500 square miles, mostly in northwest New Mexico and also including part of southwest Colorado and much smaller parts of southeast Utah and northeast Arizona.
