Interesting -- but long -- Twitter thread by a think tank analyst.
Walking and chewing gum. A multitasker's dream.Tanks in the streets, artillery barrages, tens of thousands fleeing the warzone, who knows how many dead and wounded already, nuclear weapons at the ready... and you're worried about glaciers receding. Duly noted.
Yeah, because that never happens on any threads down here in the cellar. If I’m not mistaken this is a Russia/Ukraine thread. If you and Vanzandt have gripes about other ETers, send complaints to the mod. In the meantime there is a shortage of tampons in the Ukraine, please send all you have.
I tell you after you watch this, indeed Ronnie was a true leader of the Free WorldWhat does that even mean?
Here comes Lukashenko with the Belarusian air assault brigade outside of Kyiv. A convoy stretching 3 miles. You can tell they are Belarusian by the red squares:

The Swiss, as in the always neutral European country, will forego its neutrality in the Ukrainian matter and freeze all Russian assets.
It’s important to point out what Putin did was a gamble, not a risk. A risk you can mitigate when you take a loss, a gamble is a loss and there is no mitigation. Putin gambled and lost on the idea he could survive sanctions because the west would be weak or divided. The sanctions are actually bigger and more widespread than we even could have imagined. The only thing really left is oil and gas and now there is talk of putting a penalty on Russian oil. It does not seem the west is losing any appetite to impose sanctions, if anything it is growing.
We're talking about governments. They can't walk or chew gum. Multitasking not a strong point. They are good at making problems worse.Walking and chewing gum. A multitasker's dream.
