Russia & Ukraine

I think Belarus is increasing their standing army by conscription. Footage being blamed on Ukranians/Poles (Poland blame is an interesting development)....these idiots being called out for metadata showing footage from 2 wks ago as something that happened yesterday. Magical "long range mortars" hitting Russian fuel pumps and being blamed on Ukranians. It's complete amateur hour...

Apparently the Russians aren't above using small nukes for utilitarian purposes beyond just MAD retaliation. That, or they don't believe Ukraine surrendered all its nukes (smart really).

To be fair on the small nukes point, we use bombs with greater capabilities than small nukes as needed.

I agree with you, Poland is an interesting development.

The truth is the Russians are in all kinds of trouble as a nation state and their way of life isn’t sustainable without expansion. It’s how the romans did it. The problem is they don’t have anything to offer anybody else. Their way of life is shit. They don’t bring peace, rule of law, economic opportunities. It’s just awful to be a Russian. But the only thing worse is to be under the gun of Russia.

You’re damn straight France, German AND the UK have their eyes very wide right now because once Russia gets rolling and they keep those nukes in good condition Europe becomes a smorgasbord very quickly.

We will see how far the Russians go though. If they go to Kyiv or further west then they will be directly in conflict with NATO. Putin did make a statement that there could be implications of Euro-wide conflict.

I heard a pundit describe Russia's economy as basically "a gas station run by the mafia."

Heh.

Oh, we've certainly pursued non-fallout alternatives. I had to look up your claim as I would've agreed and was curious. MOAB ~11tons TNT; ruskies have FOAB ~44 tons (disputed)

The MOAB is the most powerful conventional bomb ever used in combat as measured by the weight of its explosive material.[27][28] The explosive yield is comparable to that of the smallest tactical nuclear weapons, such as the Cold War-era American M-388 projectile fired by the portable Davy Crockett recoilless gun. The M-388, a W54 nuclear warhead variant, weighed less than 60 pounds. At the projectile's lowest yield setting of 10 tons, roughly equivalent to a single MOAB, its explosive force was only 1/144,000th (0.0007%) that of the Air Force's 1.44-megaton W49 warhead, a nuclear weapon commonly found on American ICBMs from the early 1960s.

Russia's grain harvest down over 20% last year, part of an emerging trend. Meanwhile, Ukraine, the "bread basket of Europe", saw an increase (possibly only chance, though).

Yep . Can't see Russia threatening the UK or wanting to draw them in as the English speaking nations stick together and then you'll have WW3 but France and Germany ...

Russia is also emboldened by China and China have global dominance aspirations .
