Most of these civilians were shot, reportedly, with a bullet to the back of the head. A lot of them with their hands tied behind their back.
I don't believe it and that's all you have to go by, a belief. Could have been done by Ukrainian forces, who are these people and where is this? This could be in Donbas. You don't know. You are given these images and told this is what Russians did and you choose to believe it but you don't know for a fact. Ukrainians aren't just given weapons and military training, they are also getting PR coaching, what to show people in the West, how to produce a spin, something that Russians have no clue about.
Indeed but they would still be shot or blasted to bits. Pacification is done by more brutality when you have the big toys. In my four years as a scout sniper for militarised antipoaching units and the three wars I experienced as a civilian, I honestly can't think of a practical scenario where civilians can't be overwhelmed by the baddies going full on bastard.
I've seen villages and towns where the donkey had an AK and faced with it, nobody still there got brave.
Only a few percent have the (little sick in my mouth but easiest description) "warrior gene" and they are armed already. What we see there is just murder.
Maybe one day we will see a shock result but it will be the extreme exception in my experience.
