He was at a festival in Karlskoga where he was checked by a police patrol, who perceived him as drunk, according to Aftonbladet's information.

He was then arrested on suspicion of breaking the Knife Act, but as he lacked identity documents, the police searched his hotel room.

Among other things, a drone and other equipment were found there, which shows that he photographed protective objects in Stockholm and Sundsvall, according to the information.

The man admits that he took the pictures but denies any crime.

The man has now been arrested on suspicion of violating the Protection Act. Something that Säpo confirms.

- I am aware of the case, but the Police Authority is leading the preliminary investigation, so I must refer all questions there, says Säpo's spokesperson Karin Lutz.


Sweden and Norway have had plenty of similar cases lately. Sadly, it's presumably comparatively rare that GRU operatives are caught. This one would have gone free if he could have stayed away from the drinks.
