The Ruskies are bringing a lot of those old tanks to the front because they are increasingly unable to replace their burned out artillery barrels for their artillery guns. So they use the tanks guns as artillery which works for a while but they are not built for that.

Yeah, the Russians are doing that but, they are highly adaptable to battlefield conditions. Those older tanks can fire tank shells and yes, they are used as artillery. Ukrainian artillery being destroyed by the Russians in huge numbers. Just like the dumb bombs the Russians turned into glide bombs by adding fins to it and guidance systems. Suddenly, those glide bombs become super weapons that destroy even hardened bunkers. Russians have now gone on to 3,000 lb glide bombs to drop on Ukraine positions. Those trenches the Ukrainians are digging now will be destroyed pretty easily and all the troops guarding them, will be all dead too in one swoop. That is why the Ukrainian soldiers were running from Avdiivka. Russians were dropping glide bombs on their very heads. Casualties are easily in the hundreds to thousands. Depending on how many Ukrainian troops are in those trenches.
