Russian dictator Vladimir Putin has dismissed General Sergei Surovikin from the post of commander of the Russian Aerospace Forces. Media reports say Surovikin was detained by Russian counterintelligence in connection with the rebellion led by Yevgeny Prigozhin; the general is known to be the latter's associate.

Details: The journalists say Putin's decree also states that Surovikin will be left at the disposal of the Russian Ministry of Defence. This decree was not published officially.

A source of RBK confirmed the information about Surovikin's dismissal. "Army General Sergei Surovikin was relieved of his position in connection with the transition to another job and is at the disposal [of the Ministry of Defence – ed.]... Now he is on a short-term leave," one of the sources claimed.

Background:
  • Surovikin headed the command of the Russian Aerospace Forces from 31 October 2017. In October 2022 – January 2023, he commanded a joint group of Russian troops in Ukraine, and served as its deputy commander from 11 January 2023.
  • During the rebellion of the Wagner Private Military Group on 23-24 June 2023, Surovikin recorded a video message to the mercenaries urging them to return to their places of deployment. After that, he did not appear in the public field.
  • On 13 July, The Wall Street Journal, citing sources, reported that the Russian secret service detained at least 12 high-ranking military officers, including General Sergei Surovikin, in connection with the mutiny of Yevgeny Prigozhin; 15 officers have been suspended or fired.

The attack on the bomber at St Petersburg won't have helped. I have been broadcasting to my friends over there from the beginning that old Putingradburg is a much better target than Moscow.

What Russia did:
  • Russia send soldiers to Belarus
  • Russia send all kind of military material to Belarus
  • Russia attacked Ukraine from Belarus
  • Ukraine cannot attack Belarus
Ukraine should:
  • Ukraine should sent soldiers to Baltic states
  • Ukraine should send all kind of military material to Baltic states
  • Ukraine should attack Russia from Baltic states with drones, not enter Russia
  • Russia cannot attack Baltic states. If they do it will be an attack on NATO
St Petersburg is less than 100 miles from the Baltic states. Much better then drones flying from Ukraine to Moscow. Which is three times further.

Kamenny, Krestovsky en Petrovsky are my preferred areas in St Peteresburg to be bombed.

When US shuttle exploded in early 2000s I was completely shaken by the news. Really was sad for several days by such huge space program setback...

The shuttle that exploded was Challenger in 1986. I doubt you were even alive then, comrade.

He probably means Columbia in 2003, technically it did also explode during reentry though he is probably confusing them.

Fuck the Russian lander, pure propoganda mission and failed as such missions are prone to bad luck aka being rushed.

I recall the line from K19 the Widowmaker : "Captain Polenin (Liam Neeson) which remembers the otherwise unremembered cosmonaut who was launched into space before Yuri Gagarin but who was “not loyal enough to hold his breath when his life support system gave out.” Consequently, he never existed. “Gagarin was lucky,” says the Captain, raising his glass. “To luck.”"

RTL (France): French neo-Nazis fight for Ukraine, 2023

Quote:

About 100 French mercenaries are currently fighting in Ukraine. These are mostly men from 25 to 40 years old, "who are in search of meaning and purpose in life." More than a third of them are close to ultra–right beliefs, some are "obviously neo-Nazis."

Source:Russian President Putin, during a meeting of the Council for Strategic Development and National Projects on 22 August

Quote:"By the end of 2022, Russia has <... > entered the top five largest economies in the world and, according to the World Bank, the Russian Federation came out ahead, outpacing the Federal Republic of Germany in terms of purchasing power parity, in terms of economy," Putin said.

Reality:

Purchasing Power Parity (PPP)
  • Germany 0.74
  • Russia 27.33

So Russia is faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar behind

Source: World Bank

The smaller the number the higher the purchasing power. So Russian purchasing power is massively smaller then Germany.

Fifth largest economy???
