Russia & Ukraine

Which major military conflict has the US ever won other than against an army of minions? Without Russia the UK would have been flattened by Germany and the US with very high likelihood would have never put a single soldier on European soil. Same with Japan. Heck the US would most likely have been hit by German nukes long before the US ever came up with one on its own.
Name us a single war against a serious enemy the US has won on its own. Love to hear it.

Which military power has challenged US in say last 70 years to a direct conflict?

Which war? You lost almost every war in the past 70 years. Have you even opened a single history book EVER? You did not win in Afghanistan, you displayed to the entire world how you fucked off out of Afghanistan in a hurry. Could not even take all your own citizens with you and those who supported you. Hours later Afghanistan was exactly what it was for hundreds of years. You could not even set a single foot into Iran otherwise you would have been badly beaten to death. And Iraq hopefully you don't count as a serious opponent.

We win wars all the time. What we don’t do is take over the country and subjugate the people of the country. And that is where we do fail. We have this notion that we can install a democracy in places of the world that aren’t suited to it. So we spend billions and trillions when we should just burn the places to the ground and let them figure it out. It would be cheaper and less people would be hurt.

Yes, the US won the Iraq and Afghanistan wars - easily - and would win a war against any other country on this planet, pretty easily too - that includes Russia and China.

Wow. UsualTard has gone full Rambo.

What we should do is not elect weak presidents who invite the bullies of the world to try their luck. And then to do disastrous withdrawals from other wars to entice them further into thinking that it is good time to make their move.

It is known as Peace Through Strength.

This entire thread is populated by woke kids. Russia has not put any serious effort into this crisis. If they wanted they could bomb the shit out of the entire Ukraine within hours.

hey guise, guise, Russia hasn't sent their top troops in yet, just you wait!!

Lol, when was the last time the US won against any major opponent? I can give you a list of all the battles it lost against small opponents... Oh wait, I just listed them...
Tell me one instance when the US has won a war by itself against a major military power? All you keep winning or withdrawing from conflicts with minor military entities. Not a single major win under your belt, yet you speak with such confidence as if you have multiple wars fought and won. What nonsense! I spoke to British army soldiers and they spoke very poorly of Americans, you are just great at spraying bullets everywhere, otherwise dumb as fuck. Multiple casualties from friendly fire, trigger happy hillybillies, not much better than Russians. Oh, you been watching Top Gun 20,000 times??

This is all non-sequitur. Russia is neither a major opponent nor a major military power. It would be Desert Storm 2.0

Against a few Iraqis? Lol, gotta be kidding us. That's like Germany invading Poland. Lol. And they have done it within days several times over. And that just for giggles. Nobody in Germany claims this to be a significant win worth mentioning. Goodness is your benchmark low.

Overstating your might is part of your entire history...

Coalition forces in Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) were able to take down Saddam Hussein's regime in less than three weeks, with comparatively few casualties. The speed and relative ease of that victory raise two important questions: Why did the majority of Iraqi forces fail to offer significant resistance? Why did the Iraqi leaders fail to adopt defensive measures that would have made the Coalition invasion more difficult and costly?

U.S. decisionmakers should be careful not to draw unwarranted lessons from OIF, particularly the notion that high-tech weaponry and communications will inevitably enable smaller ground forces to be decisive against larger, but less high-tech, enemy forces. The extraordinary advantages that Coalition forces enjoyed in Iraq during March and April 2003 may not be replicated in future conflicts.

shitty pivot is shitty

No argument from me, Russians do like to sacrifice their own to get a win, yet a win is a win, surely you can understand that.
A win is a win, but were Russia somehow able to pull off a win in Ukraine what would it look like? A pile of rubble? A smouldering pile of rubble in exchange for half a million dead young Russians. I would think that somewhat less of a win for the dead young Russians then the old alcoholics that stayed behind. And sadly for Russia, they seem to be losing at present. But at least, "a win is a win."
