russell 2000 emini

it has great trends throughout the day though, 3 to 5 points and today a couple even larger, bit of a swing trade on a intraday basis as opposed to multiday swing

nah, unless you're trading 9 contracts, at which point $40 is negligible, you can make money on ER2.

But quite honestly, It's easy to make money on ER2 daytrading or scalping it but it's very easy to lose money on it, too. I was just looking at my P&L on ER2 and although 80% of my daytrades on Er2 are profitable, the big swings of losses kept my profits at a minimum. That can be attributed to my strategy, too.

It's hard to keep tight stops on ER2 when scalping.

Swing trading ER2 is much profitable for me.

I prefer to daytrade the YM or NQ. Behaviour is less erratic.
=============
ES is less erratic day trading than ER2 also :cool:

mightymight, it depends on what the market is doing, typically after 8:30 cst it is 1 tick spread. but watch out when it is moving fast, it can easily become 3 ticks even more.

its quite volitile, I can see that and I can see how the fast moving times could get tough but not looking to trade ticks, more trends during the day, any input on S&P midcap 400 futures? seem volatile similar to russell 2000, anyone trade them? not quite as liquid? but similar trending and volatility?

anyone trade russell 2000 eminis? any issues with liquidity day trading these?

I trade up to 25 contracts with anywhere between 1 and 5 round turns per day. I only use limit orders (except for stop losses), and most of the time I have no problem filling my orders. It might depend on your broker.

Do you trade 25 contracts at a time? Would this size be possible with market orders without outrageous slippage.

Like I said, I use limit orders, so if I am filled, they have to be at the price I specify.

Exiting is more important than entry, but I break up my exits to help avoid slippage when using MIT orders.
