Running out the clock

Georgie will run out the clock on Iraq, that's clear.

But it looks like he may engineer things such that he can get out of office before all his disastrous budget/tax/economic decisions can come home to roost.

Why would anyone be foolish enough to want to inherit the whirlwind that Bush has sewn?

Democrats always starved out the military and expanded the budgets for welfare to buy future votes and then let the Republicans deal with the realities of the world. GWB beefed up the military and expanded the drug companies take of the pie to buy senior citizen votes for the future. The AARP is the source for all the "Bush is going to kill social security" bullshit that was going around in 2000, you don't hear that any more... He's a republican that is not afraid to play the same damned game as the other guys, sort of putting it in their face big time... If you don't like politics stop voting...

I worked for dod from 1963 to 1984 and don't remember anything like that ever happening.

No, Rearden. It's not a question of that. It's that Paul won't be given a fair shot at making his case that is the problem. Why? Your coethnics who control the airwaves won't let him: His isolationist stance horrifies them. On the internet it is quite another matter and Paul has been a sensation. Whether this can be translated into votes remains to be seen.
 
it's pretty f-ed up that we've gotten into this cycle between republicans and democrats of who can screw up the country more in a way that will materialize during other party's term
