I read this thread form the start today, nothing to do this am.

U had some good picks, Abx -Plcm-Pay, and u were dead on with waiting to short the SPX.

I say ur tell- ur a 50 SMAorEMA take ur pick trader.

U were waiting for the "TRADE", ok u were on vaca around May 5,6 cool. On the "flash , fat finger crash" BS , bottom line it broke the 50.

But any trader worth their salt knows, U SHORT the rally back up to the 50 MA, "the kiss of death set-up". ..... what of waste of time watching and MISSING the best set-up there is!!!!!
 
I'm not a 50 moving average trader.. I don't have any lines on my chart, I don't know this setup of shorting the rally back up to the MA, cause rallies sometimes keep going up, it just didn't keep going back up this time and fell down and stumbled.

But yes, I do feel like I'm piking when theres no trades going on, Although my only setups work for long only. Its much harder to risk control on shorts you know.

When you manage a set of capital , you can't just jump into a directional trade,
2% down of XXX,XXX = $6k-15k , This can happen in an INSTANT, like literally 1 hour.
Thngs have to be precisioned in if it happens like this, and it most definately has to be hedged.
 
I'm not piking out on the short position,

I basically have no low risk graphical setups for a short position,
maybe one type of graphical pattern setup in my head.
I didn't see it happen during the fall. I can't enter something I don't know how to enter with calculated risk, even though I know the direction of the market.

You ever seen Shawn bradley in the NBA? Seen all his shots? Theres about 2 shots, Thats me. I only know about 2 good setups.

regarding your shorting the rally during drops, depends on if we switchd to bear from bull, but during regular markets, that graphical pattern ,which i use to think was great, is a terrible performing pattern, even in bear markets, many times it rallies 4-5 bars, drops 2 bars, then rallies up and takes out more people, thing fails like an "asiaprop"
 
Its ok to only that 2 shots or setup, but the rally after the mini crash was a LAY UP, shoot they even lower the rim for SLAM DUNKS.

I use a combo of SMA's & EMA's on alltime frames along the candles and price action tape reading. Any break of the 50 MA followed with a low volume bounce is a heads up, LOOKOUT BELOW, cuz here shes comes.

A peice of advise: NEVER HEDGE a stock position with and index like the ES, the company could come out with bad news and the ES hedge goes the other way

Equity positions have to entered for a directional measured move and hedge with options.

ES hedge with ES or maybe with FX, the usd/jpy pair since thats the mother of all carry trades.

The biggest and best trade of this week was the EUR/AUD cross, look at that downtrend that got reversed BAMM !!!! 1.39 to 1.54 monster squeeze. NOW a life changing move, unfortuntly I didn't have the cap to put on that trade. Life changing SOROS type of trade.

Not a layup, you need trading skills to make that work. This isn't Wizetrade :D
