same nonsense on a continuous basis. markets that have uptick rule are going down . we have had bear markets in US with uptick rules. the market is going down for a reason. it is the unwinding of leveraged instruments.
Agree. I doubt the repeal of the uptick rule has had any significant effect on the decline.... might during a panic/crash like '87, but we've not been anywhere near anything like that in this go around.
Only difference between uptick/no uptick rule is with no uptick the intraday volatility will be higher with bigger up & down gyrations as MM's try to squeeze those who short with intraday stops. I did like the uptick rule myself, though.
