Rumor - is Mac/Refco in trouble?

Quote from stock777:

Side question. I know just being in an office is a license to print $, but exactly what are they doing that allows them to make thier millions.

Or what were they doing. Or what did they thing they were doing. Or what did they wish they could do?

same old, same old.....

20% of treaders making 80% of the profits

the other 80% of traders get stuck on simulators etc so as not to cost the company too much

the 20% that are making $ supporting those who aint.

most prop shops are the same i imagine.

Yeah we know this. But what are they doing? Just banging the keyboard like those 5 trillion monkey's trying to write Shakespeare at random? Or doth they do something more tangible.

Quote from Mr Kamikaze:

All of you just be glad that you are talking about a firm that can accept being criticized without having to threaten you all with legal action, LOL, unlike GHCO!! I don't know about RTS Chicago but everyone is entitled to their own opinions about their working experience with any firm, otherwise what is the point in posting on these boards at all.

If a risk manager is a total shit head then name and shame him, and if many people agree then so what if he takes offense, if what you are saying is true and can back up your claims then post what the hell you like.

dsguns why are you so intent on defending RTS anyway? It just seems as though you aren't allowing people the right to disagree with you. For the record, I don't know any of the guys you are talking about, but I do HATE censorship.

Kam,
Just dont think people should openly talk about individuals on this site. But youre right, everyone is welcome to thier opinion. Ive been in this business for ten years and have no interest in an online shouting match with someone still wet behind the ears.
I only made those comments earlier in the post, because its a common tail in this industry-people lose then blame others, their system, comission, slide their way into another firm, then do the same thing all over again. Its only when they have legitimate responsibility (and dont have their parents credit card anymore) that they realize they are onbly hurting themselves.
Seems like Pall is pretty ANGRY though. Funny, I thought I was the one being sued. Shouldnt I be mad?
I asked about people severing their deals in hopes of getting some feedback on how to handle a common situation (btw thanks for the posts).
Lastly, the only thing I was defending regarding RTS were the two managers being talked about the site. They really are not bad, and I happened to get on well with both of them. But again, we'll have to agree to disagree.
Best of luck to everyone. I hope everyone continued success.

So now that everyone is in agreement that RTS Chicago has taken some major hits and needed some mgmt replacement, what do you guys think of those that are in charge now? What's the potential for the new training program? Is signing up in Chicago suicide? And do you even have a chance to be competitive without TT?
