Rude answers can also reveal impatience with incredibly stupid questions. It's bad form, but it is possible that the culpability runs both ways.

Makes you wonder why people still have these "failings" after so many thousand years of evolution. Looks like these traits do, or at least did, more good than harm. Greed is good, you know the speech. If our ancestors were happy with everything and had no desire for the better, we would still live in caves, if at all.

Even emotions that are commonly considered "bad" do serve a purpose. For example, envy might indicate that others have something better than you and you should get that too, for your own good. Wrath could indicate that something totally went wrong and needs to be resolved and/or it needs to be avoided in the future.

I remember an article by Stephen Hawking where he talks about aggressive human behavior. While we improved our odds of survival in the past by killing others and taking their stuff, it brought us to the brink of extinction in our today's world with nuclear weapons. We just aren't designed to live in a modern world like this.

All of these points are perfectly legitimate given that the prerequisite knowledge base is an absolute constant amongst the membership population.

Here's the rub - 75% of the posters here on ET have never risked anything more in the markets than a very modest quarterly 401K plan selection.

Of those remaining 25%, maybe 2/3 have placed $10K in an IB account and that makes them an authority and an official bomb-throwing authority. The 1/3rd of that outstanding balance have traded professionally and most of those couldn't make a sustained run at it.

There are genuine bits of trading knowledge to be had on ET, but is takes considerable prowess for the non-practicing observer to uncover it.

The fact of the matter is that there are very frequent posters here who are quite vociferous and opinionated but in fact never actually dispense any practical trade-related knowledge. They never can talk about a particular trade. They can never demonstrate specific trading skillsets.
