RSI smoothing period

What is the standard smoothing period for the 14 period RSI... 13? Also, what is the standard smoothing type... simple, exponential etc...

If I want to use a 9 period RSI what would be a standard smoothing period used in that case...

I have played around with various smoothing methods. I have found that a 5 period rsi smoothed by 3 gives a pretty good overbought, oversold indicator.

Also I have played around with rsi oscillators where the oscillations is around the difference between rsi's of two lengths.

Say 14 and 13.
