Shouldn't you be concerned that your standards are entirely too low. I mean low is one thing, but yours are ridiculously low. Why not remedy the situation? Put the pretenders to mount Olympus, such as myself, and other lefties here, on ignore and solve your problem. Why wait and suffer still another day? Do it NOW.

Mueller is another one that is not looking forward to reporting directly to Barr.
It is also not an all or none thing as far as his being there after finishing the primary report.
He can finish the report but then has to defer to the AG in regard to which of the identified issues in it and cases in progress that the AG wants the special counsel to pursue, or whether the AG does not want to go further, or whether the AG wants to pursue but via the regular DOJ staff and various combinations.
We saw a version of that with Ken Starr. He was not able to produce on the whitewater piece, the original issue driving the special counsel appointment but he uncovered the lewinsky thing along the way (clinton did not meet with lewinsky in his office until 18 months after the special counsel was appointed). People think that Starr then just went after Clinton but that is not true, apparently. Starr alleges he just reported it to Janet Reno but did not have the authorization to pursue it but she then asked him to do, ie authorized him.
Anyway my point is that Mueller can finish his report and be gone or he can finish his report and still be there. Except Sessions has left and Barr is on record as being in favor of limiting the special counsels role, so I think given that, it favors the "being gone" outcome. Sessions/Rosenstein would have authorized him further forever and a day under the guise of not interfering.
Not questioning you, but am I reading this right? Can the AG just bury this? Does he have the final say in who gets to see it?

Oh, I didn't make the case that he can just bury the whole enchilada. I was making the point that -at report time- there will be much done and much undone and much that could still be pursued or could be let go, and much that will pursued but may be handled in-house or kicked out to the district office. Or, as in the case of Ken Starr the AG could just authorize him to go on to Round Two on a completely different matter than the original one. As I said, it is not just a matter of "mueller is done with his report so that is the end of everything." As a practical matter, Barr cannot just "bury" the whole thing, but he certainly gets a big say in what the next steps are and whether the burner gets turned up or down. And ditto for all the stuff that Mueller apparently has not got involved in- the dossier issues, mccabe, rosenstein, strzok, page, hillary investigation. If Loretta were AG she would "bury" all that and in fact did that while she was AG. But if Barr is AG and he probably will be, the chances of those issues being done, are slim.
I dont want to get too far into the weeds, but since you asked, it is important to remember that this special counsel- unlike Clinton's- was not created by Congress under the Special Counsel Act and does not report to Congress. Instead, this special counsel was appointed under DOJ department rules and is answerable to AG and serves at his discretion and the report is private, confidential to him or department authorized people. As a practical matter there, we know that politics still limits what he can and cannot do and that whatever is confidential will be leaked almost immediately. Just sayin what the rules of the road are. But as I keep saying over and over, even that is not either/or. There are reports that are released that reveal lots and there are reports that are released but 95% is redacted. The AG will be a major player in all of that- as Rosenstein was and he used his authority to be a bad actor and hide almost anything unless it made Trump look bad. Dont count on that with Barr.
Mueller is not above politics. If Jeff had stayed then he and Rosenstein would have let Mueller diddle and witch-hunted as long as he wants. But now both mueller and rosenstein are scramblng to complete the major part of the report before Barr arrives so that Barr wont have any involvement and oversight in the final report. The lefty media makes the case that an AG cannot ethically be involved in the special counsel's activities. That's a complete crock the AG has a responsibility to oversee and use the special counsel to assist where internal employees cannot. It only fell to rosenstein because jeff wussed out and had issues. Barr has no known conflict. He has expressed in the past that he doesnt think much of the special counsel arrangement, but that is not a personal or ethical conflict. Just means that a nominee up for review by the Senate has that view. Vote him up or down.
