Terrible story. Can't imagine what the family and parents must feel given that the kid literally died for nothing, having not even lost any money.
I think everyone here is for personal responsibility and caveat emptor, but there's something inherently disgusting about a gambling app (Robinhood) sucking in millennials by the million to be fleeced by PFOF HFTs - and allowing options to be traded by people who are, almost by definition, total novices. In the longer run this will only lead to more calls for regulations and transaction taxes.

No Press is bad press, that's got them a lot of press, I bet a lot more youngish people from this not bad press have signed up from it.
Like Elon's failed car stunt, got him unlimited free press and many sales.
Maybe it is like a few people dying after buying heroin from a particular dealer. All the other junkies rush to buy because they believe they are getting a purer form of heroin and a better high.
Or maybe the old saying there is no such thing as bad publicity applies in this situation.
