Ron Paul unimpressed with Limbaugh apology

Quote from RCG Trader:

Nope, take away the government's power to moderate, we become a theocracy.

Do you really think the evangelicals will just pick up their bibles and go home??

WTF kind of garbage is that? You really want to make that argument? A theocracy? Really? Once again, without regulation, the church has no power in this country. ZERO!!!!! The only influence they exert is "through" the government. Are you really not getting this? Seriously?

Mav, think Church of England. It is why the pilgrims left, among other things. You presume the the church will not apply pressure at the state and local levels, mainly because of where you live. Outside of the cities, or in balkanized cities, the church has tremendous power.

Why to you think I immediately knew Obama would have to walk back the Catholic thing?

Church have much more power than you give credit, sir.

You can also kiss goodbye the power of corporations, lobbyists, the judiciary, the unions.

Weaken Government power and all private enterprises have to answer to the market or the people. No more inside deals

You are not listening again Ron. In each example you just gave, the church got their power through the government. The church can do nothing on their own. Come on bruh. We have like 500 different religions in this country. We have thousands upon thousands of churches of which none of them even agree with each other.

Come on bruh. If the government at the federal, state or local level does not give them any power, then they have no power. It's the same with our military and our corporations. All these entities are corrupted by the government!

Quote from Brass:

So, going forward, what is the solution? I see how you wish to limit the government's reach. How do you propose to effectively countervail the church's reach?

How about you don't fucking attend? What the hell is so hard to understand about that choice available to you.

Wow.

One word....Antitrust.

Did they just make that up out of the clear blue sky?

The power of money is still the power of money.

Give us one example of how religion is forcing you to do things you wish not to.

Quote from Maverick74:

Very easy. You limit the power of the government. Keep the government out of the insurance and health care industry. If health care remains a free market, then they can cover whatever they want. The church can't make insurance companies do anything without the strong arm of the government. They can scream from behind the alter, but their words have no power without government regulation.
That is a specious argument. Without anyone keeping it in check, the church will then get its way by throwing its considerable and accumulated weight around.

What is the sound of one invisible hand clapping?

Government starts at the local level, Mav. and in a town of 200 people it very much matters where or if one goes to church. Next thing you know, these little hovels form county governments, and so on.

Do you seriously think Obama just picked Rev. Wright's church just because? They all but told him he can't work there if he does not join a church.

I think you gather information in isolation, and that is not a good thing. Study the politics at the grass roots level of Chicago, and then tell me churches have no power that the government does not give, lol.

Nothing.....as of today, and that is because we live in a secular nation.

Occupy, if you used religion and Antitrust in the same sentence and expected that to have some meaning, then the ability to communicate with you effectively is going to be limited.

People who do not know history are doomed to repeat it.
