You have 19.63% goes to Social Security, 16.13% goes to unemployment and welfare, 12.79% goes to Medicare, and 8.19% towards Medicaid. That totals 54.74% of the spending there.
Why is this money spent? This money is siphoned from the treasury so the Democrats can payoff their lazy, none job having constituency.
Well, not quite true. SSN, Unemployment, Medicare all funded by employee/employer taxes. Yes, yes, there is now a shortfall. Why? Because congress embezzled all the money and used it for funding everything else under the sun, including unfunded wars, that's why? No embezzlement and all these programs would have plenty of money, so much so we could be talking about LOWERING retirement age and INCREASING benefits. But alas, the theft has already occurred and we are where we are. Please put the blame squarely where it belongs...the U.S. Congress and corporate beneficiaries of said theft.
Free Thinker did not say "income tax revenue" he said "tax revenue". That includes all federal payroll taxes. So Free Thinker was just plain wrong when he claimed that 94% of all tax revenue goes to national defense.
In any case, Paul is the only candidate who will seriously cut military spending as well as domestic spending.
Yes, he was wrong about that 94%, and yes, Ron Paul is the only one with the stones to put these type cuts on the table, which is why he's at where he's at in the polls. The corporatists just won't have that type shit. That said, all the welfare queens in the world can't bust the budget the way corporate welfare has done. However much it pains me to see these bitches spit out another kid to finance their crack habit, it's a mere pimple on the ass compared to the wholesale theft by corporate America and their congressional minions.
I give Paul a lot of credit, but in fairness Gary Johnson also has proposed enormous cuts, including something like 40% out of defense.
The problem with these agencies is they have a bureaucratic imperative to expand their reach and hence their budget. Take EPA. Virtually everyone wants clean water and air. EPA however is out to take over the entire economy, trying to regulate "greenhouse gas" emissions, which is far removed from its original mandate and which would never be approved by the congress.
The Departments of Education and HUD represent almost 100% waste, in addition to substantial fraud and abuse. There is no constitutional justification for their existence.
The Energy Department has some valuable functions, but they could easily be handled by other departments and probably run far better. A big chuck of its budget is directed at funding slush funds for uneconomic "green" industries, which as we saw with Solyndra, carries enormous potential for fraud and abuse.
