Paul defines in a clever way, his idea of isolationism. He believes we can talk through all our world problems with diplomacy and setting a positive example. Would be nice, Chamberlain thought the same of Hitler.
Who sets the law and enforces the law for International waters? Does Paul feel each cargo ship is on its own against pirates and raiders?
Do we give sovereignty to Iran to regulate the Straights of Hormuz? What if they donât honor western business contracts to allow oil ships to pass through Hormuz? What if Iran says only ships operated by Muslim men can travel throught their bordors. Do we have the right to sanction or bomb them?
I guess "isolationist" is a bad word in Ron Paul's book. Here is what he said,
"Isolationists", Paul said, "want to close the U.S.'s borders and cut off trade relationships with other countries."
I don't see the cutting off of trade with other countries as neccessarily part of an isolationist's views. With that in mind, Paul is certainly an "isolationist" in his view of foreign policy.
