Ron Paul Is the Tin Cup Of Conservatism

Quote from AAAintheBeltway:

I realized after posting that I probably should have summarized Tin Cup for those who didn't see it. Here goes: Driving range pro blows chance to win U. S. Open because of obsession with hitting the perfect shot. He dumps multiple balls into a lake fronting the 18 th green trying to do so and loses. The movie's premise is that he is somehow a pure hero, unconcerned with society's definition of success. I thought the movie was stupid and the hero was a moron and loser who couldn't handle winning, so had to retreat into his own make-believe world.

Now there does seem to me to be an obvious analogy with Ron Paul. In his case, I think it is a near obsession with principle, but it is healthy in that what he wants is what is best for the country. In Tin Cup, by contrast, it was purely ego-drive. "Look at me hit the perfect shot."

The problem though is Ron Paul may be letting down his followers and the country, just as the guy in Tin Cup let down his fans. No one is asking Paul to jettison his principles just to be popular. Is it too much to ask though for him to try not to scare people who have been brainwashed for years?

I have said several times, I like the guy, but he the WORST politician I have ever seen. You can't do anything if you are not electable:eek:

Whether or not his actually is a racist is less important than the other things he stands for and wants for our country. No candidate is perfect in all of his views to all voters. Personally, I wouldn't care if race were an issue with him. There are bigger fish to fry.

What the Hell.. Odumbo and Moochelle are HUGE racists... they hate white people.. they just get away with lying about it.

Fair enough.

Disagree about Tin Cup though. Excellent movie. The character was not ego driven (otherwise he would have cared about the fame and glory of winning), just obsessed with hitting a perfect shot regardless of the circumstance. Just as RP is obsessed with being perfectly consistent regardless of the circumstance. This behavior is admirable in my book, and there is more to living a successful life than winning at all cost.

He's been elected, 10 terms to the House of Representatives.

Texas you moron.
There's a difference? Both states have the same sense of humor. Ask "Rand."

But thanks for the correction.

Uh oh, the biggest blowhard of ET just committed a major "faux pas". Maybe you should just stick to critiquing everyone's grammar and improper usage of apostrophe's.
