Former Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney said Sunday that President Barack Obama has been naive about Russia's "intentions and objectives," and that the president's "faulty judgment" on Russian President Vladimir Putin has made the current situation in Ukraine worse.

"The president's naivete with regards to Russia and his faulty judgment about Russia's intentions and objectives has led to a number of foreign policy challenges that we are facing," Romney told Bob Schieffer on CBS's "Face the Nation." "Unfortunately, not having anticipated Russia's intentions, the president wasn't able to shape the kind of events that may have been able to prevent the kinds of circumstances that you're seeing in the Ukraine."

Romney insisted Sunday that the crisis in Ukraine could have been predicted, and he faulted the president for not moving earlier to avert it. Pressed by Schieffer on what Obama could have done, Romney said the U.S. could have taken steps earlier to plan sanctions against Russia in concert with other countries.

defying Obama worked out a hell of lot better for leaders in Syria than it did for the people in the Ukraine relying on Obama's leadership.

Romney is doubling down on his dopey neo-con views. This is a guy who, like obama, never served a day in the military. He is ready to go toe to toe with a nuclear power though, over what... Crimea? A place most americans have never heard of and couldn't find on a map.

The real mistake here was that Obama and the euros should have never meddled in Ukraine and fomented the ousting of the elected leader. The people who took over include neo-nazis. One of the first things they did was to enact repressive measures aimed at russian-speakers. I get it that they don't like Russia, ethnic divisions, etc, but this is like russia started messing around in Mexico.

Romney and Paul Ryan's uncertain handle on foreign policy was very evident during the campaign and hurt them. He is not doing anything to change that perception now. There are plenty of things to go after obama over. Too bad he didn't have the stones to do it during the campaign. This however is not one of them. He just sounds like a sore loser.

I still wish the 2 of them had the balls to say we are going to cut taxes, which stimulates the economy. We saw revenues go up after Bush, Reagan and Kennedy tax cuts and they will go up again...

They were so poltically on that they seemed almost untrustworthy. Now after seeing Ryan in action on amnesty... it seems he is.

It's tough. We all can see that Obama is a terrible president. I suppose Romney or McCain would have been a minor improvement, but we would have had to deal with amnesty, not to mention another disastrous neo-con foreign policy.

The main way you can say Obama is worse than Bush is Obamacare, plus tax increases and judicial appointments. Bush got us into two hideously expensive and ultimately pointless wars, ran up a huge debt and pretty much had an open borders policy. I find it hard to get excited about more of that.
