Romney Picks Paul Ryan of Wisconsin

Quote from Max E. Pad:

Pretty sure its unconstitutional to waltz into a country without declaring war and just assasinate someone, not that i have a problem with it in this case.

2 sides of that argument and one of the areas the founders did not make clear imo.On one hand the congress is supposed to declare war but the president is head of the military and responsible for the countrys defense and directs U.S. foreign policy .The founders had to know the President might be required to act to defend the country without having time to consult with congress or disagree with congress about the need to defend the country. Its an even bigger issue now with the sophistication of intelligence and the fact that President knows much more then Congress about the nations threats and cant give Congress members all the details of the nations threats

I think what plays well in NJ, doesn't do well in other parts of the country.

What i kind of found funny about Christie is that he was making fun of all those jack offs on Jersey shore for fighting all the time, he said something along the lines, "these guys are not an accurate depiction of what people from jersey are like"

And then all of a sudden you see him blowing a gasket on someone too......those italians in jersey are all hot heads, who are insanely confrontational.....

Quote from AK Forty Seven:

Libs did not want Romney to pick Christie

I doubt even Christie could have salvaged the ticket, one thing we can count on is he wouldnt have been a dumb ass when confronted with ads implying Romney killed someone like that stupid chick whose response was
"yeah well if he lived in massachussetts he would have had free health care"

Christie would have buried Obama in response to that ad, plus as a prosecutor he sure as hell wouldnt have been dumb enough to line himself up like that chick did......

With the people running Romneys campaign I'm not sure Christie would have salvaged it either but he would have been the best choice for Romney imo

Christie will have more room to go after Obama not being the VP pick

+1

We cant cant have Romney /Ryan leading the country

We probably won't, but we'd be marginally better off if we did.

The Navy and the Marines were meant to be the immediate responders. The danger felt was of a perpetual standing army who's line of command would go to the executive. State militias - the National Guard - were supposed to be the main line of land defense, and they could (and have been) federalized when needed.
Using the Navy Seals to take out Bin Laden was actually in line with the way the Constitution was written, although I seriously doubt anyone in the White House was thinking about that at the time.
Having an army in time of peace - not so much, but since Korea we've had a massive one ready to move at the whim of the President anywhere he directs. The increased power the President has enjoyed since Korea to make war anywhere he wants because of this large standing army was predicted by Hamilton in the Federalist Papers and is what they were trying to prevent.

And since in your opinion we'd be marginally better off, then understanding statistics you'd have to see we could also be marginally better off under Obama than Romney. And that being the case this whole election thing isn't really a big deal.
