As another former mod I'm inclined to agree.Quote from Tsing Tao:
As a former moderator, I can tell you with a degree of certainty they will have nothing to do with enforcing any "bet".
Quote from BSAM:
Ouch!
I know you boys ain't gonna just sit there and take this.
You got to admit that Brassy has a point about this kind of wager when the mods will be the enforcers.
Quote from Brass:
Oh, but I have already received the card. It's theme is "377OHMS
is all hat and no cattle."
He doesn't need to trust me if the mods are introduced to enforce the bet. The mods' involvement is like a standby letter of credit issued by a third party, which guarantees payment whatever the creditworthiness of the other side of the transaction may be. Unless, of course, 377OHMS doubts the integrity of the mods as well.
So you see, BSAM, I got about as much as I could get out of cowards like 377OHMS, Tom B. and jem who don't have a scintilla of integrity between and among them.
Why? If someone is permanently banned, do the mods not seek to ban any subsequent aliases that may crop up? Why should this be any different? Further, it would make the forum that much more interesting, seeing its members actually putting something on the line. A ban from ET isn't all that much, in terms of putting something on the line, but it's more than empty words and bluster.Quote from Tsing Tao:

Quote from jem:
I was between Ghandi and friedman just a little down and right of center.
I thought I would have been a bit more to libertarian and right... but I think they got me with a few questions which did not really hit the right spot so I only agreed when I could have strongly agreed. A few right left questions were difficult to answer.
I do know that corporations have to be controlled otherwise they will put pollution costs back on all of us tax payers...
To me that is really a conservative issue.
If the resources are to be properly allocated they have to be properly priced. But I am sure my answers moved me back towards the middle.
So if I am the middle, imagine how whacky and left brass and stu and free thinker are.
Then make the bet or shut up. All I see are excuses about why you're afraid to make the bet. Hatboy.Quote from Tom B:
You and I have never even discussed making a bet with each other, so you are lying about "Tom is all hat and not cattle." I did not realize that the mods now want to mediate bets on ET. They seem to have a busy enough job without mediating side bets. Also, as T28 has proven, it is almost impossible to prevent some one from creating a new alias and posting on ET.
Why would anyone want to make a bet with you? You still claim that Mao and Stalin were right wingers. You cannot admit that you are wrong. You have no integrity. If Romney were to win, you would make some excuse why he wasn't the real winner. The chance of you honoring a bet is almost zero.
