RJO Vantage - How is it?

Quote from brocklanders:

User Interface. If you try the software and it works for you then great. I think the only reason to go with RJO Vantage versus other electronic platforms is if you need more personalized broker assistance. If you have already gone through all the paperwork at RJO then you might as well give it a try, otherwise there are better alternatives out there in my opinion.

You know I am trying to use demo version of RJO Vantage right but its really very confusing. I have used demos of few other borkers but this one is the most difficult to understand. I am trying to buy 4 contracts of CME EURO but the software keeps rejecting my order without giving any reason.

No, I haven't done any paperwork with RJO yet. The only reason I am considering them is because they are offering free platform and quotes. Can you suggest a broker for trading CME Forex Futures who is as reputable as RJO and doesn't charge anything for platform and streaming quotes or may be a software vendor who doesn't charge a fortune for using its platform and live data.

If you are just looking for a self clearing broker and want a free order entry, then there are still better options. Try RCG and the Onyx platform, it has good functionality for a free platform, although nothing is as good as a paid for obviously. ADM has some free platforms as well, via ADMIS, but I've never used any of those. fwiw...it was years ago when I used Onyx (when I first started trading) so I'm not sure how it compares these days.

Hello.

My Name is, George Kanellopoulos and i have Futures Account to R.J. O'BRIEN.

I use the RJO Vantage Platform there, and i find it interesting.

I believe that you need a Professional of R.J. O'BRIEN for to help you with it.

When i tried it with DEMO, a Person from there called me and spoke me for their Basic Functions.

That Help me a lot.

Many times i forgot things there,
but i contact with a Professional there and the Problems are resolved.

You can contact with RJO Futures Department and to ask for Mr Jeff Ratajczak. It is my Basic Contact Person there and he is a Very Helpful Person.

Anyway, try to make some DEMO Trades there and to use your Trading Strategies.
Also ask, in your Vantage DEMO to expand the Time Period of Use.

I wish you the Best in your Trading.

Kind Regards,

George Kanellopoulos.

I used RJO futures through Tradestation for a while. It was the same platform that you are talking about, my account was just managed through Tradestation, easier for transferring funds. I liked the platform and it seemed pretty stable. Their data was always lagging other provider's I had, so I wouldn't solely rely on that. But the trades always went through at the correct price. They offer a huge variety of futures trading vehicles which is nice. You could be trading YM, then ES, or NQ, then move to 10 year bonds, then to CL mini crude.. dollar index , gold, corn etc.

The commissions are decent, not as low as some out there, but I prefer to deal with a professional shop and pay a little more, than a chop shop, and pay less.

Honestly, I can’t imagine why anyone would use RJO Vantage when there are better products out there at a fraction of the cost. If you don’t want to pay for data, that rules out Tradestation. Since it sounds like you need a fair amount of support, IB is probably not for you. Look at OEC. OEC’s software is a 100 times better that RJO Vantage and has so many more features. The charts alone will make you pick OEC over RJO. All this is without even comparing prices which RJO is much higher priced than OEC. If you do your homework there really is no comparison.

I know about OEC. I have tried their demo software and liked it. The only reason I am considering RJO Vantage is because:

1. I only want to open an account with a FCM which is also a clearing member with CME.
2. I am a beginner trader and don't really want to pay for expensive data feed and charts at this point. RJO doesn't charge anything for the use of their platform and provides charts also.

Do you any other suggestion other than OEC?

Thanks!

pros in Chicago use Advantage.
best trading hands down TT
best charting CQG

why not use CQG trader to keep costs down free platform = P.O.S. you know that you gotta pay to play.

ace

Why do you only want to be with a CME clearing member?

There are plenty of good firms that are not members of the CME but still give you direct access.

Also, OEC's data is free. Last time I compared OEC's charts to Vantage, it wasn't even close.

Do yourself a favor and safe the money and go with a less expensive firm.
