Check it out.... he plays left handed, but he plays a right handed guitar. Notice how the Low E string (the fat one) is on the bottom in all those pics. I bet that's what he learned on as kid because its probably all that was around. By the time he could afford a LH guitar, he had already mastered it backwards.
