I don't know if it's really accurate to say that Hitch was pro-Bush, it's probably better to say that he saw an American president who was waging war against Islamic countries, and Hitchens hated Islam.

Even though Bush's public statements were pro Islam, his actions seem to indicate otherwise, hence the admiration from Hitch.

But I really don't know, I'm just guessing. Hitch was a couple of paygrades above the rest of us in brainpower.

That is probably a more accurate of view of Hitchens support of Bush's foreign policy concerning Iraq. We are too polarized is America, people equate individual views as "conservative" or "liberal" when all they really are is that personal opinion. On most political views there can be made an intelligent argument for or against. Hitchens stood above the crowd in making his intelligent arguments.
 
He could be a little over the top with provocative statements, but he did display the courage of his convictions to the bitter end. Any man has my respect for that. Like most Atheists he allowed his justifiable contempt for organized religion to see any possibility of a Creator.
Like all that have gone before him he now has the one thing the rest of us do not...certainty. I always enjoyed watching him debate. May he RIP.
