This is what happens when the usual brainwashing, nazifying and demonizing doesn't work and people still want to exercise their democratic right to have a say in the politics of their country... the riot police is called in massive numbers to literally beat down voters, including shooting rubber bullets at them. I didn't really understand the forces driving the desire to secede from Spain before, but now I do.

Voting should never be illegal. It can be invalid, or the results not acknowledged, etc and that's bad enough. But these folks aren't violating any law, and they certainly aren't doing it violently.

This won't go away. The response by the Madrid government will only enforce the resentment against these EU-puppets and the Spaniards aren't as sheepish as the Germans, who swallow anything Merkel and her Luegenpresse feed them. The same sentiments are brewing in Italy as well. This might be the start of the downfall of the EU.

The Spanish voted yes for the EU : so what are they complaining about?
Others voted no ( like France), but got their leaders to bypass the people's choice.

The only people I can feel sorry for are those who voted NO and still got stuffed with what they did not want to get into.

Thinking of it : why do people want to force others into something they do not want?????
Why do people have to fight for their right to say NO?
