A year ago there was a lot of covid government assistance helping people and propping up the economy, that assistance is now gone. It shouldn't be that hard to understand that a person can approve of the economy when people are getting healthcare/childcare/not having to pay students etc and no longer approve of it when those government benefits are no longer there...
Trump will
not bring back government assistance (freebies/handouts from the Pandemic) because he's not a believer in anything that would encourage a social welfare economy.
America is a lot better than handouts but struggles to understand that "we as Americans" need to do our part too instead of relying on the government to subsidize us especially now that we're no longer in a Pandemic.
Ok...I will admit the above may seem hypocritical to say considering I'm a U.S. veteran that uses one of the biggest social handouts in America...called the Veteran's Administration whenever I visit the states.
Yet, I do reside in two
socially progressive countries ranked in the top 20...Canada (#4) and France #16...
It allows me to make a very good comparison to the United States (ranked #19...and falling in the ranking) while residing & citizen of all three countries. Trump is bad for America, bad for Democracy, bad for the U.S. Constitution but I'm not naive to misunderstand the truth of Democracy & U.S. Constitution when it comes to the history of it all...
Resulting in my great grandfather (Lakota Sioux) not being considered a U.S. citizen in WWI in his own country (the United States of America)...on the land our ancestors lived on before colonialism while he fought in a War in Europe in WWI...a war
he volunteered for because the U.S. was not able to draft non-citizens.
---------
June 2, 1924
The Indian Citizenship Act of 1924, (43 Stat. 253, enacted
June 2, 1924) was an Act of the United States Congress that granted U.S. citizenship to the indigenous peoples of the United States.
Imagine that,
under Democracy...Indigenous Americans did not become citizens on their land until June 2nd, 1924.
----------
My point is, Democracy is
not perfect but
Trump will destroy it including some of his strongest supporters wanting to get rid of the VA that fights for all those benefits given to those who served, fought, and died for America's Democracy & U.S. Constitution.
Great grandfather, grandfather, my father, myself, and soon one of my sons.
Although I was not able to vote in 2016 due to illness (coma in November 2016), I was planning to vote against Trump because I knew that if there were a Trump in 1924 would have never allowed Indigenous Americans to become citizens of America in his efforts to
Make America Great Again.
Also, I'm not naive to know that the RICH became richer in the Pandemic while the POOR became poorer. Trump continues to exploit part of that equation...something he helped to create in
2020.
