CHINA Smog 'Airpocalypse'
China has had the worst pollution problem in the world for several decades and many have consistently worn face masks because of such for several decades.
The difference is the Pandemic (during/after)...face masks are mandatory even though most already wear face masks because of the pollution problem.
Unfortunately, face masks don't work too well in CHINA against pollution because their
water and soil are polluted from the growing pollution problem too due to CHINA's
growth-at-all-costs economic model.

Particulate matter concentrations in China far exceed WHO recommended levels, and they leave China with AQI values far above what the EPA
considers satisfactory. According to
AirNow, the city of Shenyang experienced an average PM2.5 concentration of 41 μg/m3 in 2020 – four times higher than the WHO guidelines recommend.
High levels of air pollution take a major toll on public health. A study by the Health Effects Institute
found that unhealthy levels of PM2.5 led to roughly 1.42 million premature deaths in China in 2019. Household air pollution from burning solid fuels
resulted in an additional 363,000 deaths that year.
For several decades, CHINA's population has had growing respiratory problems, increasing cancers, and increasing pre-mature baby deaths due to being the world's leader in coal consumption, the world's largest car market, and the world's biggest emitter of carbon dioxide.
Face mask wear will
not solve CHINA's growing pollution problem...will not solve the current surge in mysterious respiratory illnesses in their children...mainly in the high pollution cities !!!
Every year there are medical research studies into the growing cancers, respiratory diseases, and other illnesses in CHINA's population from the pollution problem for two decades now...
every year.
The above link is just one out of hundreds. Simply, I'm scratching my head about why CHINA has now called the surge in pneumonia in their children a "mystery" when it's also surging in their elderly population, especially in low-income cities that burn lots of coal and in high air pollution cities.
CHINA is notorious for not admitting its
growing air pollution as a direct link to the increasing health problems in it's population.
In Beijing concentrations of micro particles in the atmosphere have been found to be
more than 10 times the safe level recommended by the WHO.
P.S. A friend of mine return back from visiting her relatives in CHINA. She noticed many children not wearing face masks
or wearing what looks like just a custom-made cloth face mask in the heavily air-polluted cities...
This is the reason why I don't believe CHINA having mandatory face masks wear will not solve the air pollution problem or resolve the so-called mysterious respiratory illnesses in CHINA children.
