Ok, Hamas has beheaded children. Does this justify putting other children at risk, even children of Hamas terrorists? How about other children who are at risk of collateral damage? How about the civilian parents of those children?
The US dropped the atomic bomb on Japan, killing many civilians. I see that as a stain on US history. If the US condones action that results in mass causalities against civilians, have we not become the terrorists we despise? Do we not foment hate among new generations of survivors, perpetuating the cycle. This has been going on for what, 2000 years in the region? At what point do the intelligentiosos in power conclude their methods are ineffective?
Perhaps it is simpler than that. Gaza is in a coastal location, presenting a potentially lucrative redevelopment situation. A question to ask if Israel helped maneuver Hamas indirectly to justify the action Israel wanted to take all the long? If so, Israeli’s blood is on their own hands, at least to a degree. If so, a new low or perhaps a revisited low in politics is reached.
