Coincidentally enough, I was reminded by this cartoon how once you sprinkle nationalism on some populism (typically over workers' beef), you end up w/fascism. It's why I excise lefties who become isolationist and start throwing "the others" under the bus in favor of "our people".

Notably authoritarian socialism just ends up devolving into a fascistic amalgam that can't quite be called fascism since nationalism isn't part of the ideology but in practice ends up being the same as nationalism is often a driving force (space race, cold war, Chinese nationalism, etc...)
