Again compare the cost of pharmaceuticals and college books within and outside the United States. Ask why the cost of college and healthcare has far outstripped the general inflation rate for decades. If you break down the cost of a cancer treatment into professional hours, pharmaceutical costs at free market prices, account for equipment and facilities utilization, and add for administration and liability insurance, it is likely the free market cost of most cancer treatments would be 80 to 90% less than they are. I am not saying I know the actual numbers, but a study on this, perhaps comparing other industries, would be illuminating, I'm sure.
