Ridin' with Biden

So is it fair to say that price gouging the fault of the President, and not the company causing the gouging?

Which is the better remedy? Punish corporations that price gouge or have taxpayers foot this bill for said price gouging?

The US healthcare system has gone to shit, as predicted during the Obamacare debates. Effectively insurance companies determine treatments and doctors live in fear of lawsuits and losing their liability insurance. The quality of healthcare measured by waiting times and 1st visit treatment effectiveness has declined. It is telling job satisfaction among doctors has declined and not all of that is related to Covid, apparently. Increasing bureaucracy has increased healthcare inefficiency. This inefficiency increases costs which are paid by someone. That someone is ultimately working class people. Who knew?

Instead of simply repeating the pleasure of mutual political masturbation, Let's take a broader view than we usually do. There seems to several common denominators that drive various political philosophies and can explain most of the points of contention between the parties.

Democrats seem to believe our environment is at risk due to overpopulation, natural resources are limited, and that centralized government is most efficient. Republicans seem to believe our planet can support a much larger population, resources are plentiful, especially considering the vast amounts of lower grade resources, and the "invisible hand" of the totality of individual decisions is ultimately more efficient than big government.

Reality is the final arbiter of the most efficient system. For example, if our world is indeed overpopulated, then a lot of Leftist narratives make sense. What better way to control overpopulation than promoting self sterilization by gender reassignment, promoting homosexuality, encouraging abortions through promotion of reproductive rights, and conducting geopolitical decisions in such a way that encourages or extends wars? Yes, Democrats oppose the death penalty, but its impact on population is not high.

The key is for us to be situationally aware, to truly understand where we are at, is using scientific principles to guide policy. Unfortunately for us, as foundational as science is, there are controversies motivated by political agenda that can lead to opposite conclusions of where we are at. Until we agree on a system that is based on fact, our decisions and efforts are likely to be counterproductive in aggregate.
