What's happening with the proposed $15 minimum wage after the Republicans (those backing Trump)
fought like hell to try to stop it (some GOP members sued Biden in court about the minimum wage increases) from happening for political reasons ???
As stated before, I'm a little confused because my nephew in South Dakota is a teenager, and his very first job...he's making +$22 dollars per hour.
In contrast...
In January (that is this month), the minimum wages in
Maryland, New Jersey, and upstate New York will reach or exceed $15 an hour for the first time, joining California, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Washington, and the rest of New York as states at or above $15 an hour.
Other states not mentioned but shown in the below graph, are increasing their minimum wage but it does not state to what number and I'm assuming the increase will be incremented over several years until it goes above $15 per hour.
Also, see the graph further below, it does state what the current minimum wage was before the increase. I highlighted
South Dakota @ $11.20 although my nephew is making +$22 per hour in South Dakota...in a state that says Biden is not doing enough...
South Dakota is one of the states fighting like hell to stop the minimum wage increases.
Other states important to my relatives because they live there...
Illinois: $14.00 current minimum wage
Kentucky: N/A (among many of the states
fighting like hell to keep workers poor while keeping businesses rich). Yet, this state is run by a Democratic governor (someone I think if very good/smart) that is trying like hell to counter the Republicans effort.
Arizona: $14.35 current minimum wage
Texas: N/A although relatives recently moved back to Arizona because of Republican Abbott's bullshit antics. My cousin in Texas worked two jobs (when Trump was President) making $15.00 per hour at both jobs and now is only working one job in Arizona making $30.00 per hour (under Biden Presidency)...doing the same job.
For the record, Trump did state in fact...he would kill the $15 minimum wage towards to end of his first term if elected again because he believes it's
anti-business. Thus, he's still not in tune that a large percentage of Americans are working two or more jobs to support their families or working only one job but not able to support their family.

January 28, 2022 (begins tomorrow on Sunday)
Statement by President Joe Biden on $15 Minimum Wage for Federal Workers and Contractors Going into Effect
A job is about more than a paycheck. It’s about dignity. When I was running for president, I said it was past time to increase the federal minimum wage to $15 an hour. Last year, I made a down payment on that pledge with Executive Orders directing my Administration to work toward ensuring that
employees working on federal contracts and
federal employees earned a $15 per hour minimum wage.
These directives go into effect this Sunday, meaning nearly 70,000 federal workers will immediately start to earn $15 an hour, and 300,000 employees of federal contractors will start to see a raise to $15 an hour reflected in their paychecks over the course of the year.
These are the customer service representatives who answer the phones to ensure that Americans get the health care they deserve; wildland firefighters who protect our forests and communities; custodial workers who keep our military bases clean and safe; nursing assistants who care for our veterans; and laborers who build and repair federal facilities. The workers that will disproportionately benefit from this pay increase are women, workers of color, and workers with disabilities.
This increase will provide those workers and their families a little more breathing room. And because we know that higher wages boost productivity and mean lower job turnover, these orders will allow the government to do its work better and faster.
These workers benefiting from these actions are critical to the functioning of the federal government and of our nation, and I’m proud that their wages will begin to reflect that. I continue to urge Congress to raise the federal minimum wage to $15 an hour so that American workers can have a job that delivers dignity.
