Rich kids use the Internet to get ahead, and poor kids use it ‘mindlessly’

Metrics like this are harbingers of our future. How can this be fixed, improved? Where, what is the seed that this behavior metric springs from and how can we alter it. The tools of our time, information , communication devices, present an opportunity to bring people into a more level economic playing field than ever in human history. How do we better implement this? Any ideas, solutions out there?

1. The "seed" of this behavior is LIBERALISM! People are given enough to "get by", and many settle for that. It was a HUGE mistake to give so many so much for their vote. It would have been much better like the old days. IOW... government didn't used to do all of this "wealth redistribution in exchange for votes". Years back if you planned on eating regular, you'd better get a JOB!

2. The "freebie culture" is now ingrained in our society and politics. No going back. Therefore no fix, sadly.

LIBERALISM RUINS EVERYTHING IT TOUCHES.... INCLUDING AMERICA!!!!

(So... if Liberalism is so destructive, why is it so pervasive? That's simple. It's because is an "easy-sell" political platform for asshole politicians and eagerly-received by the lazy, greedy ne'er-do-well hoi polloi.... "something/much for free", you know, and the more the better.)

This is the way it's supposed to work. Privately run soup kitchens feed the people. Then the recipients have an incentive to go find a job.

Compare that to the liberal answer of freebies for all and a third of the population not giving a rats behind if they have a job.

Of course neither may not be necessary if the money printers didn't create booms and busts.

Even if government run. America is not going to allow its citizenry (even the illegal parasitic interlopers) to starve or freeze to death, of course.

But providing "sustenance"... until you get "your feet under you" is different from "buying you a marginal life style in perpetuity in exchange for your vote".

It's the difference between (1) a hungry man at your back door begging for a meal, vs (2) a parasite wanting to "camp in your back yard forever while expecting you to feed him daily".

I have some personal experience here. We won't allow people to starve or freeze to death, of course... but what we need is "enough support to let them get by... until they decide they want better in their lives and are willing to work for it".

Nobody in America is rightfully entitled to be a parasitic tit-suck at the expense of other citizens.

The government has provided all of that in an effort to secure votes... but is wrong! Immoral, even!

Get a JOB, buddy!

There Are Nearly Six Unemployed Construction Workers for Every Construction Job Opening
Posted March 10, 2015 at 1:40 pm by Elise Gould

"One of the recurring myths following the Great Recession has been that recovery in the labor market has lagged because workers don’t have the right skills. The figure below, which shows the number of unemployed workers and the number of job openings in January by industry, is a useful way to examine this idea. If today’s labor market woes were the result of skills shortages or mismatches, we would expect to see some sectors where there are more unemployed workers than job openings, and others where there are more job openings than unemployed workers. What we find, however, is that there are more unemployed workers than jobs openings in almost every industry.

"The notable exception is health care and social assistance, which has been consistently adding jobs throughout the business cycle, and there are signs that workers in that industry are facing a tighter labor market. However, we have yet to see any sign of decent wage gains yet, which would be the final indicator that the labor market, at least for those workers, was approaching reasonable health.

"Other sectors have seen little-to-no improvement in their job-seekers-to-job-openings ratios. There are, for example, still nearly six unemployed construction workers for every job opening. In other words, despite claims from some employers, there is no shortage of construction workers.

"Taken as a whole, these numbers demonstrate that the main problem in the labor market is a broad-based lack of demand for workers—not available workers lacking the skills needed for the sectors with job openings."

Chart, with all sectors

Every recession we suddenly have a parasite problem.

Doncha love these towns that have made and are making homelessness illegal?

No, we don't have "starving" people. As long as we have dumpsters . . .

No, we don't have "starving" people. As long as we have dumpsters . . .

You're the only imbecile making comments like that. There's no reason you can't find ways to make living off government assistance not the preferred method in which to go about life.
