reveal your strategy?

Quote from TrendSailor:

On the other hand there IS a reward to be gained if in sharing a concept/system with other objective persons they can help vet out the system and give insight in how and when it fails or find other mechanical and pragmatic trading flaws/challenges. So in sharing there is an opportunity to both advance and improve the concept/system or to understand its limitations and abandon it if its discovered character and performance is seriously impaired.

Just ideas,
TS

There's an extraordinary amount of sharing going on around here, just look around at some of these threads. Yeah, while the exact details are kept covered, the general concepts are thrown back-and-foth like an afternoon's game of football.

The thing is, when you take some of the ideas and add them on to your existing system(s)/trading parameters, you can make some real advancements in your trading!

JJ

The Journal of Finance several years ago had a study that looked at several trading systems that had become public. The conclusion was that it took about 3 years for an 'edge' to become common enough for the edge to be lost.

The Bond/Equities edge that helped Marty Schwartz gain large profits was gone in less than 3 years. LTCM ruled for about 3 years until others began to copy their approach....

Most (all?) of what is discussed on ET has long since been public and the edge, if any, is held by the individual, risk management, and infrastructure.

Good luck
