Russia has resources.

That is why they are rapidly being colonized by China.

Hope that works out for Putin. I am sure that Xi really, really cares about Putin's goal of russifying the world.

I think simplest explanation is usually true, Putin is sick. Having helped with hospices for 30 years he looks it to me.

With his resources there's no telling if he will continue to decline or pick back up but keeping him from stress has made a bubble around him far worse.
