When I go to evaluate a company that I may want to buy, I am reconsidering many things.
A couple years ago I bought EVgo (EVGO). Yeah, great concept (grow charging stations around the US). It was a start up company (with large debt and labor costs), but I thought it could grow through those obstacles. What I didn't see is at their charging stations, was copper wiring. With many EV charging locations in liberal states, I didn't catch on, that if people mess with a charger (strip it for it's wiring), they may just get a ticket and go to community service (if that). I got out of the company and took my loss. Rite Aid is in the same boat. They can't control theft. Yeah, they will put in the security guards (who can't touch anyone). It is a losing situation (that will not be resolved quickly).
Costco is a membership model with people in the entrance and exit for both keeping the criminal element out, and to provide loss prevention.
Labor...I still wonder if Starbucks will unionize. With people having less disposable income (because of inflation), unionization is a real possibility...
I now just use a different optic frame to view a company...
