so the answer is likely no. Although foreign brokerages (including Canadian?) are not subject to this rule?

Most Canadian brokers are not subject to the pattern day trade rule. Such as Trafreedom, Questrade, Etrade Canada. (IB_Canada is subject to the pattern day trade rule)

Yes, you can trade US stocks with these brokers, without the idiotic PDT restriction. being able to trade Canadian stocks is a bonus.
