Requesting Help Before Ordering Hardware!

That Eyefinity 6 is a beast. Might not even fit in a medium case. And the reviews are not consistent. Also, very expensive. If you prefer NVidia over ATI why are you making the switch?

I'm undecided again.

Can't pull the trigger with the video card.

If you are really only going to have one monitor - then it will make no difference what so ever which video card you pick from that list in regard to what you see on that monitor.

Seriously no difference at all - they all provide a digital signal that tells the monitor what it is suppose to display, whereby the digital signal is defined by the software. The video card is only a means of providing the digital video information.

The only difference between those cards is their ability to render 3d graphics for games.

You need any card that will provide the resolution of the monitor of your choice. Ideally, you will pick a card that will provide the desired resolution to two monitors of your choice, because even though you think you will only use one monitor, as soon as you try two you will need the second.

You are better off picking the lowest spec card on the list, as it is cheaper, quieter, cooler, and uses less power. The picture on the monitor will not be any different.

Melanie, didn't we go through this before? This is your third gyration of picking components for your PC.

Thoughts for the 6-in-1 video card (1 card driving 6 monitors):

- $400 to buy
- If the video card goes out, replacement cost = $400
- If the video card goes out, you are down 100%

If you buy some low-end dual video cards (each card driving 2 monitors):

- Total cost ~ $50 x 3 = $150
- If one video card goes out, replacement cost = $50
- If one video card goes out, you are down only 33% (you still can use 4 monitors out of 6) before you get your hardware replaced



I use a few PNY Technologies 8400GS PCI express x16 cards. About $50 each. Passive cooling. Each card drives 2 monitors. You would only need 2 cards to support 3 monitors. Work fairly well for me.

Or if you want to save some money and not have noisy hot video card running all day long, you could try this link. Says he's got "more than 10", so he'd probably take a decent offer for 2 of them.. maybe $50-$60? Used workstation cards are OK. Besides seller has a good reputation and has extras to replace if you get a dud.
