How can Hugo Chavez claim to be a friend of the American people, when 85% of Venezuela is in poverty.
The unemployment rate in the US is about 4.8% which is considered close to being full employment.
So the fact remains that the US is in touch with reality. The ones who seem to be out of touch are the ones supporting the Venezuelan President at that meeting.
And why can't Hugo Chavez give free oil to the people of his own country?
The fact remains that the US is at war, and President Bush is the commander-in-chief. So to show such tolerance on US soil, by a thug Hugo Chavez, just shows how great president Bush is.

Sure, he's a socialist thug, maybe he knows how to buy popularity, he could be in power for a long, long time. Russian and Chinese communists used to insult us via the UN, they were all the biggest thieves on the planet, living way, way better than all the people they were supposedly helping while their economies were headed for the stone age.
The percentage of South American's living in poverty has fallen VERY dramatically in the past three years. Including Venezuela.
Because so many nations in SA with such a wide diversity of political ideology representing them have all improved simultaneously, I'm more apt to believe changes in demographics and higher than normal commodity prices are the causation of economic improvement rather than any individual goverments policy.

I think former President Clinton did a good job. But with the Clinton's possibly the only hope for the Dems to pull of a Dem victory, I think it is still going to be an up hill task.

Again it is the easiest to play the blame game, and the same Ex-Generals would have said the same thing had the result been different. Fact is that Defense Secretary Rumsfeld is a politician, not a General.
I believe that whether or not one is a Retired General, where are their leadership qualities, and may be they should be looking at solutions rather than focussing on problems, because the enemy does not distinguish between Republican or Democrat.
