republicans oppose teaching of “critical thinking skills”

Quote from PHOENIX TRADING:

1) straight A's
2) Goes to show how far adrift you are from the Founding fathers ideals.
govt isn't your own personal pinata to shower you with gifts from your fellow citizens.
3) Knock yourself out spend all your money for your causes but you have NO CLAIM ON MY PROPERTY FOR YOUR WHIMS OF FANCY.

i have the same claim on your property as you have on mine for your pet causes.

"federal governments in the United States subsidize religion—to the tune of about $71 billion every year."

Quote from Free Thinker:

its pretty clear that it says there was once a talking snake. do you believe in talking snakes?
Science tells us that at the Big Bang there was no time and space, matter, gravity, etc etc... Do you think that that's possible? Near the time of the start of the universe, all things were up and down and reality would look very different to people like us. The word "spoke" didn't have the same meaning as it does today, it could have meant "influenced through left-spinning neutron exchange"... who knows?

In that same chapter we read that out of nothing God created the Unverse and us, humans, in six periods (called days so that the Israelites of 3500 years ago could understand)... Just imagine what that was like. And you have a problem with the snake? That's the easiest part.

Parts of the Bible are symbolic, others are literal, and it's the Christian's responsibility to learn to tell the difference.

i think i asked you if you believe there was a talking snake as depicted in the bible?
you told me that christians used critical thinking every day. have you critically thought about this part of the bible?

Quote from Free Thinker:

... i would imagine that the part of our taxes that go to to social services to those that dont deserve it is a few bucks.maybe less than $10 and in the big picture is small. to you think its christian that you resfuse to be charitable through government to those that truely need it so you can save $10 bucks?...
You miss the point: I and most conservatives object to how this is done, not why. They take our money, pretend it's theirs, and pass it through the worst and least efficient process imaginable, creating thousands of middle class civil servants' jobs in the process, to deliver a dime per each dollar allocated, to the poor. Enough to keep them poor but not to get them out of poverty because they want those votes. it's cruel and unethical, stupid and hypocritical and it has to stop. instead, build a system of "workfare" where the unemployed work for whatever they receive and grow out of it with the new skills they acquire.

Quote from Free Thinker:

whats my religion? you are making no sense. positive evidence of a lack of critical thinking.

there is no problem. as part of a functioning society we all agree to do things we would rather not.
the only other way is anarchy.

have you critically thought about why there are no talking snakes now? have you thought about the fact that science has shown us that a snake could not have the organs to talk?

That seems like very narrow thinking from someone who believes we evolved from algae.
