Republicans defund the police

Guys, friends from the USA, please, answer me this question: Am I wrong to think that you are just being lied to, being presented with the illusion of choice, while decade after decade you are forced to choose between democrats and republicans which just present themselves as the better alternative, but are nothing more than the lesser evil at a specific historical period? From what I am seeing, republicans at the moment appear as just enough repulsive(maybe more) to make me vote for the democrats. Is such an opinion too far into the conspiracy theories? Does it have to be that this phenomenon is coordinated, planned and directed for the outcome of it to be a historically accurate observation? Does it matter if people in power cooperate to make the status quo such as it is? I'd like to hear some thoughts. Or is it more of a reddit question, haha.
There are other great ones like Gingrich, Ron Johnson, Jim Jordan, Nunes, Noem, DeSantis, Lake, Cruz, Lee....

Still, I found some lists I will pick books out of. At first glance I like that one -
The Red and the Blue: The 1990s and the Birth of Political Tribalism by Steve Kornacki
Mainly because it should count as modern times while still not the present(which is highly distorted by personal agendas). The truth is free after the death of those that lived through it.

The lists:

Books surveying political parties and party politics can have biases of the authors all over it so just be careful what you choose.

You could never understand it unless you have lived here for decades to let it filter into your consciousness through osmosis of all those years of events.

And even if you have, you would filter it through your own system of beliefs. So the question cannot be answered cut-and-dry in that fashion.

Like how we Americans cannot imagine why England was so enamored with the Queen that they had 10 days of mourning for her, and had miles and miles of people lining up to see her casket for days on end.

That would never happens here for a POTUS, because it's just a different vibe, man.

Stupidity at best but she forgot to say that the law Trump signed several years ago to try to lock up Clinton...

That same law (the law he signed to attack his political enemy) is now being used against him.

Karma is a bitch...just ask Marjorie Taylor Greene about it.
