“A series of deceptively edited and misleading videos shared by prominent Republicans have run up millions of views across Facebook and Twitter in just the past few days,”
CNN reports.
“And while both companies have pledged to combat misinformation, their responses to these videos followed a familiar pattern: often they act too late, do too little, or don’t do anything at all.”
One consolation is the “Millions of views” included people seeing what a POS Scalise is. Let’s think about ways to make these scumbags think twice before pulling sleazy sheet. The following are some ideas I’ve come up with so far:
1. Tie in those who have the authority to discipline Scalise or who associate with him such as campaign donors with the idea they obviously condone his behavour because they do nothing about it. Consider calls for boycotts of Scalise’s campaign donors as appropriate.
2. Regularly remind people what Scalise did by interviewing his victim from time to time and on different subjects to keep the event fresh in people’s minds, without getting too repetitive.
3. Create documentaries and stories of a wider scope and use Scalise the sleaze as an example of someone ethically challeged.
4. Become aware of significant events such as book signings and reelection and release reminders what he did accordingly.
5. A guy like Scalise is sure to have skeletons in his closet. Try to find them.
6. Find out what Scalise’s weaknesses are and set him up without violating the law in order to further diminish his standing.
7. Conduct political opinion polls in Scalise’s district that specifically ask people what they think of the Scalise Scandal while answering questions or otherwise informing them about the scandal. Although Scalise may be strong in his district, the scandal may make him vulnerable to coordinated effort.
Being able to implement most of the above assumes utilization of campaign workers and other resources from the party. Gaining feedback from participants in a campaign like this will help craft a well honed method to diminish Scalise and to use against others that deserve it.
Many of the things I listed above have been done before, but are generally not very well coordinated in my opinion. Also, based on what I’ve seen of Democrat campaign workers and their leaders, they are not the most organized or efficient. The key is to have the resources and trained campaign workers who are ready to strike the scandal while it’s hot and then again when the miscreant is up for reelection.
If the mainstream media had more credibility, a scandal such as this one would have more impact against Scalise. Maybe enough for him to call it quits.
In order to deter unethical conduct, we must create certainty in the minds of the morally challenged, their leadership, and their sponsors that damage will be swift and deep.
