Quote from AAAintheBeltway:
This is a standard liberal theme. "if only the evil republicnas could be more like us."
Well, we're not like you. We don;t want to be.
And what about all those high-minded calls for principle over politics? Do those only apply to liberals as well? The republicans are hopeless because they won't abandon their principles, principles which won them the presidency five out of the last eight elections, for the fad of the day?
The article and guys like RCG may be right. Demographics may doom the republican party. We are fast becoming a third world nation. Half the population doesn't pay income taxes. Most of them see no shame in expecting the other half to support them. Shame, what a joke. They are angry they don't get more.
The idea, long accepted as obvious, that we are a Christian nation built by european immigrants, now qualifies as hate speech. Similarly, traditional values that were long seen as the underpinning of the country, things like marriage, respect for the law and personal responsibility, are either mocked as hopelessly out of date or attacked as signs of bigotry.
We have a population that has been dumbed down significantly. SAT scores confirmed that so relentlessly that the company doing the testing had to change the test to make comparisons more difficult. I read that over half the Fairfax Virginia school system's students come from homes where english is not the first language. The system, one of the nation's richest, faces an enormous problem of educating children who don't speak english. How good an education are American kids getting in such a system, which has long been regarded as one of the best in the country? Can you imagine what is happening in crappy systems with less resources?
The republican party is sinking under a sea of third world immigration. It's partially a self-inflicted wound. Why they wouldn't make it a priority to stop and reverse that is beyond me.
I know one thing. The republican party can never be successful by trying to emulate the democrats. Why buy a copy when you can get the real thing? In politics, something usually beats nothing, even if the nothing is charming and is good with a teleprompter.

Great post, AAA. It is really good to get thinkers from the right.
Now, the solution for your party. Reagan already gave it, whom I admire as a man ahead of his time.

Mittens would veto the Dream Act. Reagan would never have been so stupid as to say this.
Now mind you, my minority is now 12 percent of the population. We can decide things, but we can initiate nothing.
AAA, your party, if you believe in them, must accept demographic change and seek to guide it. Did you know Julian Castro predicts Texas will be a SWING state soon? He is right, and you know it.
The sane GOP was trying get out in front of this, but the crazies took over.
AAA, if you want your values implemented, you must FIRST realize that that these values apply to EVERYBODY.
The GOP divorced itself from this.
They dug their own grave, they were given a winning playbook and they threw it in the dumpster.
