The parameters of this tax bill are completely trash. It punishes a lot of working people for no other reason than to pay off the wealthy. And, those in the middle class that do see a tax cut won’t see much unless they have children, which isn’t a tax cut at all it’s an increase in the child tax credit.

People like to believe Obamacare was about health insurance in some way. They seemed not to notice the ACA either initiated or increased taxes in 108 places. IOW... ACA was actually a "tax increase package".

Whenever there is a change in tax policy... without a reduction in spending... someone benefits and someone else gets shafted.

I expect my taxes to rise once again. Simply eliminating the SALT deduction (to fund lower corporate tax rates) will raise my Federal Income Tax by 5 figures. That, of course, is following my tax increase from ACA.

In fact, as we may recall, that was the basis for the Supreme Court surprisingly ruling that congress had the power to force people to pay a penalty for not buying insurance. Justice Roberts- through convoluted, off-the-reservation thinking- ruled that it WAS ACTUALLY A TAX SO CONGRESS HAD THE AUTHORITY TO IMPLEMENT TAXES.


I doubt that the mandate will get knocked out in the final tax version (last I checked it was out in the house bill but not the senate) but the great irony here would be if the mandate penalty did get removed in the final version of the tax bill. The libs are running around fuming and saying "how the hell can you use a tax bill to change a health care program?" Heh, well maybe because the Court ruled that it was a tax in the first place.

We don’t need more hiring, there’s plenty of jobs open and we are at full employment. We need a more educated workforce to fill higher paying jobs. We also need to raise the minimum wage to about $11 an hour.
