Republican Surrender Monkeys Eager To Confirm AG Nominee Lynch Despite Cruz's Demand

Those mom and pops are already dead, basically, because they're catering to markets with barely anything to spend, and their margins are hair thin. They're the walking dead today only because they can get away with paying their employees next to nothing, and cheating their employees whenever possible. Which makes their market poorer still.

Those are the same things said about Walmart. Nice try.

Simple question here: should the republicans use their leverage to counteract obama's abuse of executive authority or should they just shut up and avoid controversy?

The Drafters of the Constitution foresaw this very problem of one Branch encroaching on another, and they gave each Branch tools to protect their turf. You have to be willing to use them though.

I disagree, at least in some cases. We have 2 local hardware type stores that have been here for 30 - 50 years respectively. They were here long before Lowes or Home Depot. Sure it's tough to compete with the bigger players but these are local residents and the stores are in at least the 2nd generation of ownership within the families. And they don't pay their employees next to nothing. On the other hand they have a lot less turnover than the bigger guys (i.e. Lowes & HD). The reason they have little turnover is because the treat their employees rather well.

Also, not sure why you say they're catering to markets with little to spend. Both are located in a rather well to do suburban area.

I didn't mean to imply ALL mom and pops are operating in poor markets, your local hardware stores apparently sell to a wealthier market. They are also paying better than minimum wage it seems, which partly explains the well-to-do area part.

I don't think the genius Founders ever envisioned either, (1) a president with a "FUCK THE CONSTITUTION" attitude, or (2) a Congress and Supreme Court that would allow a president to do so.

Assuming America would never have such a president, the Founders apparently didn't incorporate an iron-clad remedy* against the possibility of such an egomaniacal megalomaniac ascending to presidential power through deceit and lies.

* The Constitution includes "checks and balances". IOW, if one branch gets too uppity and power hungry the other(s) say, "you can't do that". What happens when the president, having been told, "the law says you can't do that", says FUCK YOU... I'M GONNA DO WHAT I WANT AND I DARE YOU TO STOP ME? (Apparently we just bend over and grease up... and take it like sheep.)

I have disagree with all the excuse making for the establishment Republicans.
Politicians by nature are far from timid. These guys are not standing up to obama because their paymasters are telling them not to.

The paymasters give us the worst the left has to offer... and the worst the right has to offer.

Obamacare instead of single payer or just covering the uninsured under the old system

the right gives us tax breaks for corps instead of zero income tax or a fair tax and agrees to pay full freight for drugs instead of negotiating volume discounts.

and the list goes on and on.

The list of good congress has done since Reagan is very very short.

Establishment politicians on the left and the right are screwing the people.
Oddly those on the left don't see it.

Congress controls the purse strings. The Senate controls confirmations. They can bend a president to their will, but they have to be willing to do it. I could see proceeding with caution if their positions were highly unpopular, but polling showed that the public hates obamacare and was angry about obama's amnesty. Republican voters decidely so.

I totally get it that the establishment republicans are not all that uncomfortable with obamacare and are in favor of amnesty and open borders. The problem is they just won an election pretending to be against those things. Now suddenly it is just way too hard to do anything they promised and we just have to understand and be patient. And both sides can go after Ted Cruz for saying that is BS.
