It takes a conservative to think that absence of strong unions means good education for students.
Catholic schools generally don't have unions and they turn out better student as a whole than their public school counterparts, with higher grades/marks on the state standardized testing and a higher rate of graduates going on to college. The public school systems encourages apathy both from the teachers (union), because they know there will always be a check waiting for them every other week, and the students who know they will be passed forward whether they deserve it or not.
